Space storm alert: 90 seconds from catastrophe

We are nearing the cycle of sun spot activity, so far its been very quiet but scientist are concerned. The cycle is due up from 2011 to 2012. The concern is that sun plasma burst can reach as far as the earth causing as much damage as bad as frying the planet to shorting out the  power grid.

didn’t we have a massive sunspot thing happen about 2-3 years ago? I remember the cable TV going nuts for a few days because of it. Also since some Internet is routed via satellite, that had some hiccups too. Hopefully this time around, the Internet is all routed via underwater fiber.
